Ras’al Hadd/Turtles 4wd

You set out in the morning on a journey down the coast. You stop off at Mazara village, Bimah Sink Hole, a geological feature and a scenic wonder and the Finns beach where you can have your picnic. Pass by Qalhat , one of the oldest towns in Oman dating back to the 2nd Century AD before you reach the old East Africa port of Sur. Visit the dhow yards and a typical Omani village Ayjah before you reach Ras al Hadd. Check in at Ras al Hadd Hotel . After dinner visit the beach to observe the nesting habits of the green turtles.

Day 2: After breakfast drive along the coast via the bluffs at Ad Dhaffa and on to the interior via the desert woodlands. Near Ibra you stop off at Al Mansfah, to see the ruins of an old mercantile community which knew it’s hey days hundreds of years ago. Return to Muscat through the Hajar mountains.

Jebel Shams / Wadi Nakhr Gorge 4WD

Leave Muscat in the morning and travel to the interior via Fanjah, Izki, and Nizwa where you will stop to take a stroll through the Old Quarter of Nizwa before continuing on to Al Hamra. Stop at the old village of Ghul to see the ruins of the abandoned Persian village and then travel up the canyon to Nakhr to meet the villagers.  From Ghul, drive to the top of the Canyon near the summit of Jebel Shams. Picnic lunch at the rim of the canyon. Visit the local weavers and haggle for their wares. Dinner and overnight at Jebel Shams Camp resort.

Day 2: After breakfast hike down the canyon rim1km above the floor to the abandoned terraces and cliff dwellings. Before you return to Muscat stop at Misfat al Abreen to see a picturesque village strapped on to the side of a mountain.

Barricades and Beehive tombs/ Ibri 4WD

Depart in the morning on a journey to the past, driving  from Muscat through the Sumail Gap to Nizwa, Bahla Jabrin and on to Ibri. Spectacular fortresses and castles and markets of past and present are seen. Dinner and overnight at Ibri Hotel.

Day 2: After breakfast visit the ruined city of Sulaif and the beehive tombs from the 3rd millennium bc in Bat and Al Ayn. Later take a spectacular drive through the Western Hajars via Wadi Bani Ghaffir and on to Rustaq before returning to Muscat.

Wahiba Sands / Wadi Bani Khalid 4wd

Depart in the morning from Muscat to Fanjah and the Sumail Gap that divides the Western and Eastern Hajars. Visit the abandoned village of Al Mansfah near Ibra. Much of the charm and character of this old mercantile town has not washed away. Our next stop is the village of Mudharib, another thriving oasis. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch proceed to the golden undulating sands of Wahiba. Indulge in dune bashing. Enjoy the sunset atop a dune. Camel rides are optional.  Enjoy a Bedouin dinner and overnight in a Desert Camp.

Day 2: After breakfast visit Bedouin settlements before proceeding to Wadi Bani Khalid with its endless date palms and crystal clear pools. Hike and swim in the inviting pools before returning to Muscat.

Jebel Akhdar 4wd

Depart in the morning from Muscat and travel through the Sumail Gap and Izki, to drive up to the roof of Oman, the Saiq Plateau which for hundreds of years was accessible only on donkeys.  The weather up there is cool and refreshing. The sight of the terraced gardens is worth beholding. Visit the villages of Aqur, Shrejaya and Wadi Bani Habib.  Find a beautiful spot to have a picnic. You will see a variety of fruits like walnuts, apricots, pomegranates and lemon grown here. Enjoy a pleasant hike through the villages.  Dinner and overnight at the Jebel Akhdar Hotel.

Day 2: After breakfast visit more villages before you descend the mountain and stop at Birkat Al Mouz. The old and the new village are both immersed in a lush green date and banana plantation. Birkat Al Mouz is also home of one the most famous and longest falaj system in Oman, the “Al Khateem Falaj ” 2450 meter long (UNESCO SITE). Later return to Muscat.

3 Days / 2 Nights Program

Day 1: Muscat – Nizwa – Jabrin – Bahla – Jabal Akhdar

Begin your journey from Muscat and drive inland toward the historic city of Nizwa. Your first stop is Nizwa Fort, renowned for its massive circular tower and panoramic views of the old town and surrounding palm oasis. After exploring the fort, stroll through Nizwa Souq, where traditional pottery, silver jewelry, khanjars (Omani daggers), dates, and spices are sold in lively stalls.

Next, reach Jabrin Castle, one of Oman’s most elegant and beautifully preserved castles. Its painted ceilings, carved wooden doors, and graceful Islamic architecture reflect the sophistication of its era. After exploring Jabrin, make a photostop at Bahla, a town surrounded by ancient walls and home to the UNESCO-listed Bahla Fort.

From Bahla, make your way toward the mountains of Jabal Akhdar, “The Green Mountain.” The drive takes you through dramatic scenery, winding roads, and cooler air as you ascend into the mountains. Overnight in Jabal Akhdar.                 

Day 2: Jabal Akhdar – Wadi Bani Khalid – Sharqiyah Sands

This morning, begin your descent from the cool mountain heights toward the desert plains. Your first stop is Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful and accessible wadis. Upon arrival, take a short walk along the palm-lined path that leads to the main pools. Here, you can enjoy a leisurely swim in the clear turquoise waters surrounded by dramatic rock formations and date palms.

Continue your journey into the Sharqiyah Sands; a vast sea of golden dunes that stretches endlessly into the horizon. Overnight in Sharqiyah Sands.          

Day 3: Sharqiyah Sands – Sur – Bimmah Sinkhole – Wadi Arbayeen – Muscat

Leave the desert behind and drive toward the coastal town of Sur, once a key shipbuilding center. Visit the dhow factory to see craftsmen building traditional wooden boats. Continue along the coast to the Bimmah Sinkhole, a striking limestone crater filled with turquoise water, perfect for photos or a quick swim.

From here, take the scenic off-road route through Wadi Arbayeen, winding between dramatic cliffs, palm groves, and natural pools. Arrive back in Muscat.

5 Days / 4 Nights Program

Day 1: Muscat – Nakhl Fort – Wadi Bani Awf – Bald Sayt – Jabal Shams

Start your journey toward the mountains with a visit to Nakhl Fort, an impressive stronghold perched on a rocky hill, offering sweeping views of the surrounding palm oasis and mountains. After exploring the fort, continue your adventure through the off-road route of Wadi Bani Awf, one of Oman’s most scenic drives. The winding track passes dramatic cliffs, small villages, and rugged landscapes. Make a photo stop at Bald Sayt, a picturesque mountain village framed by towering peaks and lush terraced fields.

From here, continue toward Jabal Shams, the country’s highest mountain. Enjoy the cooler temperatures and breathtaking views of the “Grand Canyon of Oman.” Overnight in Jabal Shams.  

Day 2: Jabal Shams Balcony Walk – Bahla Fort – Jabrin Castle – Nizwa

Start the morning with the Balcony Walk in Jabal Shams, accompanied by a local guide. The trail offers stunning views of Oman’s “Grand Canyon” and surrounding peaks. After the walk, descend from the mountains and make a photo stop at Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to Jabrin Castle, exploring its beautifully preserved interiors, painted ceilings, and elegant courtyards. From here, proceed to Nizwa for overnight stay.

Day 3: Nizwa Friday Cattle Market – Nizwa Fort & Souq – Sharqiyah Sands

If it’s a Friday, start early with a visit to the Nizwa Friday Cattle Market, a lively and authentic display of Omani rural life. Afterwards, explore Nizwa Fort with its massive tower and panoramic views, then stroll through Nizwa Souq to browse traditional crafts, silver jewelry, spices, and dates.

From Nizwa, continue toward the Sharqiyah Sands. Arrive in time to watch the sunset over the golden dunes, then enjoy an overnight stay at a desert camp.    

Day 4: Sharqiyah Sands – Wadi Bani Khalid – Sur – Ras al Hadd

Leave the desert behind and head toward the coast, stopping at Wadi Bani Khalid for a refreshing swim in its clear turquoise pools, surrounded by palm trees and rocky cliffs. Continue to Sur to visit the dhow factory, where traditional wooden boats are still hand-built by skilled craftsmen.

From Sur, proceed to Ras Al Hadd for an overnight stay. In the evening, join a ranger-led excursion (in groups) to the beach to watch turtles nesting.

 

Day 5: Ras al Hadd – Wadi Shab – Bimmah Sinkhole – Muscat

Drive along the scenic coastal road, stopping first at Wadi Shab. Enjoy a hike through the wadi, passing pools and palm-lined cliffs, and reach the waterfall, where you can take a refreshing swim. Continue along the coast and make a photo stop at Bimmah Sinkhole, a stunning turquoise crater set in a limestone landscape. From here, return to Muscat.

8 Days / 7 Nights Program

Day 1: Muscat – Bimmah Sinkhole – Wadi Shab – Sur

Start the day along the coastal road with a photo stop at Bimmah Sinkhole, a striking turquoise crater set in limestone cliffs. Continue to Wadi Shab for an exciting hike through the wadi, passing pools, cliffs, and palm trees. At the end of the trail, discover a small waterfall with natural pools, perfect for swimming and relaxing. After the hike, proceed to Sur for an overnight stay, enjoying the coastal town’s calm atmosphere.

Day 2: Sur Dhow Factory – Wadi Bani Khalid – Sharqiyah Sands

Start the morning with a visit to the Sur Dhow Factory, where traditional wooden boats are still crafted by hand. From Sur, head inland to Wadi Bani Khalid and enjoy a refreshing swim in its turquoise pools surrounded by palms and cliffs. Continue to the Sharqiyah Sands and arrive in time to watch the sunset over the golden dunes. Spend the night in a desert camp.

Day 3: Sharqiyah Sands – Ibra – Birkat al Mouz – Jabal Akhdar

Leave the desert behind and head toward the mountains. Stop in Ibra (if it’s a Wednesday) to explore the vibrant Women’s Market, where local crafts, textiles, and produce are sold. Continue with a visit to Birkat Al Mouz, a picturesque village and palm oasis with ancient ruins and falaj irrigation channels. From here, drive up to Jabal Akhdar for an overnight stay, enjoying the cool mountain air and stunning views.

Day 4: Jabal Akhdar 3 Villages Walk & Lunch at a Local Family House

Spend the day exploring Saiq Plateau with a local mountain guide. Embark on the 3 Villages Walk, passing traditional mountain villages, terraced farms, and scenic viewpoints. After the hike, enjoy lunch in a local family house, experiencing authentic Omani hospitality and cuisine. Return to your accommodation for an overnight stay in Jabal Akhdar, surrounded by the cool air and stunning mountain scenery.

 

Day 5: Jabal Akhdar – Nizwa Fort & Souq – Oman Across Ages Museum – Nizwa

Leave Jabal Akhdar and drive to Nizwa. Explore the Nizwa Fort, known for its massive tower and panoramic views, then stroll through Nizwa Souq, browsing traditional crafts, silver jewelry, and spices. Afterwards, visit the Oman Across Ages Museum to learn more about Omani history and culture. Spend the night in Nizwa, enjoying the town’s historic charm.

Day 6: Nizwa – Jabrin Castle – Bahla Fort – Bahla Pottery Factory – Nizwa

Start the day with a visit to Jabrin Castle, exploring its beautifully preserved rooms, painted ceilings, and elegant courtyards. Continue to Bahla for a photo stop at Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its mudbrick walls. Then visit a traditional pottery factory in Bahla to see how Omani pottery is skillfully made. Return to Nizwa for an overnight stay.  

Day 7: Nizwa – Jabal Shams – Al Hamra – Misfat al Abriyeen

Leave Nizwa and drive toward Jabal Shams, making a photo stop at the summit to enjoy breathtaking views over Oman’s “Grand Canyon.” Continue to Al Hamra to visit Bait Al Safah Museum, a restored traditional house showcasing Omani heritage and lifestyle. From there, proceed to Misfat Al Abriyeen, a charming mountain village with stone houses and terraced farms, and spend the night soaking in its serene atmosphere.

Day 8: Misfat al Abriyeen Culture Walk – Bald Sayt – Wadi Bani Awf – Muscat

Start the morning with a culture walk in Misfat Al Abriyeen with a local guide, exploring traditional stone houses, terraced farms, and village life. Afterwards, drive through the Wadi Bani Awf off-road route, enjoying dramatic mountain scenery and making a stop at Bald Sayt village for photos. Continue through the mountains and arrive in Muscat by late afternoon, concluding your journey.
